Derrick Wachaya is the Founder & Executive Director of MyClimate Africa, a global climate media platform dedicated to telling the stories of climate action around the world. He established MyClimate Africa to give a wider platform to the communities, scientists and young changemakers on the front lines of the climate crisis, wherever they are.
With a passion for storytelling and community-led solutions, Derrick leads MyClimate Africa’s editorial vision, partnerships and mission to make climate information accessible, local and action-oriented.
Under his leadership, MyClimate Africa has grown into a trusted voice on adaptation, oceans, forests, energy and the innovators shaping a more resilient future for communities around the world.
Derrick believes climate solutions are strongest when co-created with the communities living the crisis first-hand. His goal for MyClimate Africa is to connect these local voices with the opportunities, audiences and partners that can help turn climate ambition into lasting action.
“Climate change is being lived every day in our communities — our job is to make sure those stories are heard, and that the people telling them have a seat at the table.”
